projects in which MHIRC is
engaged as at June 2008, as well as containing some archived
resources.
THE SHED - MHIRC
at UWS, in partnership with the Holy Family Centre, has
established a drop-in centre for men - "The Shed" - at Mt Druitt.
This important and much needed project has been funded by the
Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing under the National Suicide
Prevention Strategy.
The Shed provides non-judgemental support
and
assistance to men. Particularly concerned with men in their 20's, 30's
and 40's with a focus on Indigenous men and other local
sub-populations. The goal of the service is to help build on and
enhance the resilience of young adult males experiencing crises, and
who may be vulnerable to self-harm and
suicide.
For
further information on The Shed, please contact (02) 9628 5613.
"Strong men, deadly groups" - a Partnership
with AH&MRC to produce a film on Aboriginal Men's Groups in NSW.
"Pilot

behavioural health of men in Western Sydney.
"Engaging
Men in Health Services" - a qualitative research project
examining the perceptions of both service providers and groups of men
regarding their health needs and use of services.
